On September 26, 1953, a catastrophic disaster occurred. Typhoon No. 15, also called Toya-maru Typhoon, hit the urban areas of Iwanai Town and 80% of the areas were burned to the ground. This painting was drawn two days after the conflagration and took three days to complete.
