The college, which has been designated an important cultural asset by the national government, was constructed in 1876 based on the idea of Dr. Clark to provide a model of Western-style dairy farming. This style of construction was introduced for farm houses throughout Hokkaido and led to the creation of the unique rural landscape of Hokkaido.
