This Western-style house was built in 1928 by Hirotaka Machimura, who was the oldest son of Kinya Machimura, a member of the inaugural class of Sapporo Agriculture College. The adjoining cowshed and silo built during the same period still remain. The house has been designated as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization site.
